Organization

Guides

Welcome to our Organization Guides. Service organizations like Rotary, Lions and Kiwanis bring people together to serve their communities, develop leadership and enjoy fellowship. Guest speakers are a key part of their meetings because they inform, inspire and connect members to new ideas and projects.

Service Organizations

Rotary

Rotary International is one of the largest service organizations in the world with the motto "Service Above Self." Rotary clubs focus on local and international projects that promote peace, fight disease, support education and grow local economies.

Lions Clubs

Lions Clubs International is known for its work on vision, health and humanitarian causes. Lions members host service projects to support eye health, disaster relief, youth programs and hunger initiatives.

Kiwanis

Kiwanis International is dedicated to improving the lives of children and youth through service. Clubs sponsor programs like Key Club and Circle K and support local schools and youth initiatives.

Business Networking

Organizations

BNI

Business Networking International (BNI) is a referral-based networking organization where members meet weekly to exchange leads and build professional relationships. Each chapter follows a structured meeting agenda designed to maximize networking efficiency.

Chamber of Commerce

Local Chambers of Commerce support businesses through advocacy, resources, and networking. Chamber events range from morning mixers to member showcases and annual galas.

What to Expect as a
Guest Speaker

Most clubs invite speakers to present for 15–20 minutes followed by a few minutes of questions. Talks should be informational, educational or inspirational rather than promotional. Avoid religious or political advocacy and tailor your topic to the club's values and interests. Each club may have its own customs, but all appreciate speakers who respect time limits and provide fresh perspectives.

Tips for Service Club Talks

Do your homework: Research the club's values and recent projects before you speak.

Personalize your story: Share experiences that connect your topic to community impact.

Provide actionable takeaways: Leave the audience with clear ideas they can apply.

Respect the schedule: Plan your talk within the allotted time to show respect for members' commitments.

Follow up: Offer a way for members to contact you or access additional resources after your talk.
